David Goggins appeared on Joe Rogan’s Podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ where the pair talked about MMA GOATS. Goggins asked Rogan to talk about the best fighters to ever grace the octagon. Naturally, Rogan brought in the name of Khabib Nurmagomedov who according to many rightfully deserves to be in the debate.
Rogan who is a huge fan of the ‘Eagle’ mentioned how Nurmagomedov retired at the top of his game and was undefeated. He said: “Khabib definitely is in the conversation. He’s the only, like, really elite guy to retire undefeated. Oh, he’s good, hard as a nail.” Goggins who himself is an ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, and triathlete, was also impressed a lot by Khabib Nurmagomedov and his mindset. “He’s a nasty mother**** . There is something about looking at that mother***. Who you can look in their eyes, you can tell something ain’t right,” said Goggins.
The Eagle’s legacy is undoubtedly one of the most amazing out there. The Dagestani has earned an immense amount of respect both inside and outside the octagon. The fighter was always respectful to others even after his retirement, people talk about him. There is also a lot of anticipation about whether Khabib will make his comeback as he retired very early in his career.
Joe Rogan on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s potential coming back?
As the conversation progressed David Goggins asked if Khabib Nurmagomedov was ever going to come back from his retirement to fight again. Rogan mentioned the story about how Nurmagomedov promised his mother to stop fighting following his father’s death. Rogan said: “When his father died, he told his mother that he’s gonna fight one more time and that’s it. So, He’s in his prime still. Right now, he is in his physical prime.”
When Nurmagomedov retired he was only 32 years and in his last fight against Justin Gaethje, he looked terrifying. Many fans still think that there is a chance for Nurmagomedov to come back but he has made it clear that he’s not coming back.
Nurmagomedov is currently much more focused on making his friend, Islam Makhachev achieves greatness. Makhachev recently beat Charles Oliveira to become the new lightweight champion and is eyeing a title defense against Alex Volkanovski.
