Rocco Fucillo Obituary, Death – Rocco Fucillo, Fairmont State University presidential candidate, addressed to students Monday afternoon about his qualifications and ambitions. “I’m very honoured and humbled to be here this afternoon because the idea that you can come back to where you started is so meaningful,” Fucillo remarked. I’m excited to be Fairmont State University’s next president.
At West Virginia University, Fucillo specialises on state and local community relations. Fucillo has a political science degree from Fairmont State College, a doctor of jurisprudence from WVU College of Law, and a master of law in trial advocacy from Temple Law School, according to his WVU profile. He has trial and appellate civil and criminal litigation expertise. Fucillo was an assistant attorney general and prosecutor.
He was general counsel, deputy secretary for programmes, commissioner of the Bureau of Children and Families, and acting cabinet secretary for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR). Fucillo remembered his Fairmont State years as fantastic. “I was a first-generation college student,” Fucillo added. “My mother was a school cook and my father mined coal.
Fairmont State helped me become a successful lawyer and state leader. Fucillo liked the student-faculty relationships and lifelong friendships he made at Fairmont State, where he was provided many possibilities. “I am very passionate about Fairmont State and its traditions and outstanding students and faculty,” Fucillo said. Working with WVU President Dr. E. Gordon Gee and vice presidents, Fucillo has seen and fixed administration concerns. He faced high tuition, Charleston fiscal pressures, and enrollment.
Working with college deans and teachers, Fucillo has organised exponential learning projects with students. Fucillo stated that he had addressed many university president-related concerns. He said he has experience working with a $4.2 billion budget with the West Virginia DHHR, so he stressed he was comfortable working with high budgets and finances. Fucillo said that he is confident with his engagement in the business community to make connections as a president at the university.
