Steven William Puckett Obituary, Death – Mr. Steven William Puckett, who had reached the age of 73 at the time of his passing on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, passed away at the Baptist Medical Centre in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at Porter Funeral Home on Friday, December 15th, at one o’clock in the afternoon. The date and time of the funeral may vary.
During the event, the Reverend Trent Jaudon and Mr. Mike Fuller will serve as the presiding officers. Visitation will be held at the Porter Funeral Home on Thursday from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, and they will also be open in the morning on Friday from eleven o’clock until the time of the service. It is planned that the burial will take place in the Ellison Ridge Cemetery.
Porter Funeral Home is in charge of making the required arrangements for the celebration of life. Steve began his life on August 29, 1950, in the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Following his graduation from Louisville High School in 1969, he continued his education at Delta State University, where he received a degree in criminal justice in an academic year of 1980. He was a graduate of both of the aforementioned educational establishments.
He started his career in law enforcement by joining the Louisville Police Department for the first time in 1975. This marked the beginning of his career. He held a number of positions within the Mississippi Department of Corrections throughout his time there, including those of Warden at Parchman State Penitentiary, Superintendent of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
throughout his time there, he served in a variety of capacities. Steve was a veteran of the United States military because he had served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. At a certain point in time, he was considered a member of the Ellison Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to his sister Carolyn Palmer, his niece Alaina Puckett and his nephew Caleb Puckett all perished away before he did.
Furthermore, his parents, John Kellis and Isabel Hastings Puckett, were among the individuals who had already passed away before to his arrival. Steve is survived by his three brothers, John (Glenda) Puckett of Remlap, Alabama, Joe (Amanda) Puckett of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and Jimmy (Norma) Puckett of Louisville, Mississippi. In addition to his nieces and nephews, Aaron (Tracie) Puckett, Laura (Jeremy) Hodge, Daniel Puckett, Courtney (Trey) Shaw, Lori (Shawn) White, Caitlin Puckett, and Carley Puckett, he is survived by his three brothers. In addition, he was survived by a number of great nieces and nephews, such as Jake (Chaney) Hodge, Luke Hodge, Anna Marie Puckett, Bella White, Emmaline Puckett, Elizabeth Puckett, Roegan Shaw, Ridge Shaw, and Reese Shaw, as well as one great great nephew named Houston Hodge. He was also survived by a great great nephew named Houston Hodge.
